“Scholarship, Leadership, and Mentorship" These are the pillars that Alpha Pi Nu were built on. Scholarship- furthering our education- even if its not a degree. Leadership- we are all leaders! We lead in all facets of our life. Mentorship- "Each one, teach one" mentality. We all learn from each other. To quote the Mother of Modern Nursing, Florence Nightingale, "Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses; we must be learning all of our lives."
NaKia N. Bradley is the founder of Alpha Pi Nu Nursing Sorority, Inc. Born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in a military family, she would move throughout the country with her father, a member of the United States Air Force. Following in her father’s footsteps, she joined the Air Force in 2000. During her 14 years of service, in which she would be deployed to several locations, including Afghanistan, as a Health Services Management Technician. NaKia completed licensed practical nursing school in May 2008, accomplishing a lifelong dream. She is experienced in the following areas: pediatrics, urology, correctional health, utilization management, referral management and long term care.
As a multi-passionate, she has been working on two business ventures. NaKia, along with nine other women helped found Lambda Beta Alpha Military Sorority, Inc in 2017.
But NaKia felt there was something missing for her in the nursing world. It was then, she had the vision for a nursing sorority. As licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses needed the comradeship and bonds that seem to escape them in the work place. When it comes to the nursing world, LPN/LVNs doesn’t get the same respect as registered nurses.
Alpha Pi Nu Nursing Sorority, Inc. is to be the beacon of light and hope for LPNs/LVNs/ADNs to form sisterly bonds, networking, and uplifting the nursing culture as a whole.
